What Are Restorative Practices?

Fresno Unified believes that restorative practices are principles and processes used by ALL members of the learning community to:

  • Build and affirm healthy and caring relationships
  • Repair harm and restore relationships through accountability and voice; and
  • Restore individual and collective safety and belonging

What We Do

Fresno Unified’s Restorative Practices Team is comprised of 23 Restorative Practices School Counselors and a Restorative Practices Teacher on Special Assignment. Here are some examples of the work we do:  

  • Facilitate Repair Circles, Mediations, and Re-entry Circles of Support
  • Facilitate Listening & Problem-Solving Circles
  • Provide Tier II Social Emotional Counseling
  • Coach on Relationships & Conflict Resolution
  • Support Peer-based Peacemaking Programs    
  • Support the Shift to Restorative & Positive Discipline
